From the sandy shores of Green Bay and Lake Michigan to the rugged beauty of Lake Superior, our journey has been anything but ordinary. In 2019, we stumbled upon a hidden gem in Ontonagon, Michigan—the Sunshine Motel and Cabins—and knew we had found something special. Fast forward to March 2020, and we traded in our day jobs for the wild world of motel ownership… just in time for a global pandemic. Great timing, right? Nou, a dedicated educator with over 15 years of experience, has a knack for keeping things running smoothly (and making sure Anthony stays out of trouble). Anthony, a Theologian and ordained Minister, now spends his days preaching the good word of hospitality, bonfires, and Bigfoot sightings. Together, we’ve embraced this adventure of welcoming travelers, sharing stories, and proving that a mom-and-pop motel in the UP can be just as exciting as a road trip across the country. Speaking of road trips, when we're not running the motel, you’ll find us cruising across America, eating our way through every diner, food truck, and small-town bakery we can find. We love meeting people from all walks of life, learning new traditions, and occasionally getting lost in the middle of nowhere (thanks, Anthony). These experiences fuel our passion for making Sunshine Motel and Cabins more than just a place to stay—it’s a home base for adventure, relaxation, and some good old-fashioned UP charm. So whether you're here for the Porcupine Mountains, Lake Superior sunsets, a Bigfoot hunt, or just a break from reality, we’re ready to welcome you with Yooper hospitality, a few dad jokes, and maybe even a pasty recommendation or two.
